Some of the links on this site are affiliate links. If you follow one and buy something, the retailer pays me a small commission. It costs you nothing extra — the price is exactly what it would be if you went to their site directly.

Where they appear

Mostly in the “where to buy” line at the end of a review, which points to Master of Malt and The Whisky Exchange. Some posts also link to Hard To Find Whisky, and a handful of older posts link to Amazon. Anywhere an affiliate link appears, it says so next to the link, so you know before you click rather than after.

Why it doesn’t change what I write

The commission is the same whether I rate a whisky highly or take it apart, and the same whichever bottle you end up buying — so there’s nothing for it to bend. No distillery or retailer pays for coverage here, and nobody gets to see a review before it goes up. If I don’t rate something I say so, which is the only reason any of this is worth reading.

Where the whisky comes from

I buy the bottles I review. One has been a gift, and that review says so in its opening line — not down here. If it happens again, whether it’s a sample from a distillery or a bottle from a friend, you’ll read about it on the review itself, before you’ve read a word of what I thought of it.

If you’d rather not use them

Go straight to the retailer, or better yet, buy from your local whisky shop. I’d genuinely rather you did — independent shops are how most of us found the good stuff in the first place.
